Indian Hill Ranch, as the name implies, was the home of American Indians years ago. Rock mortars on “Indian Hill” overlooking Brite Creek and the valley below was a place where domestic chores were in process. The Indians found this to be a desirable spot with its unique microclimate and views of the valley below. It is common knowledge that Tehachapi is now world famous for its wind, however, Indian Hill is out of the “tunnel” in a sheltered valley. Certainly the ancient Indian Tribes were aware of the location for this and the abundance of water, grass and game.  We went camping for the weekend next to South Twin Lake at Indian Hill. Most of these pictures are from the Twin Lakes area of Indian Hill and from a hike along the South Jeep Trail and through the archery range.
