Hello! My name is Eldred Hughes. You probably wonder why I call my Web Site "Gizmos"! For many years I was a summer camp scout leader and the name Gizmo was my camp name which is used because it is easier for the children to remember than Mr. Hughes or whatever.  I chose the name Gizmo from the character in the movie Gremlins!

My primary interests are photography, camping, hiking, children activities and computers. I was in the Navy for 21 years, Retiring in April 2001. My last assignment was to the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific in Pearl Harbor, HI. Previous assignments included the USS Haddock (SSN-621) stationed in Mare Island and San Diego, CA., USS Miami (SSN-755) stationed in Groton, CT., USS Columbia (SSN-771) stationed in Groton, CT. and Pearl Harbor, HI, S1C Prototype facility in Windsor, CT and the Naval Submarine Support Facility in Groton, CT.. I am currently managing a Tele-Communications Cable Station in Los Angeles, Ca.  for Tyco Telecommunications. Sometime in June 2005 the company name will change to VSNL.

I am using this website to show some of the photographs that I have taken in the hope that they will be seen and enjoyed by as many people as possible.

I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Grove City High School in 1974.  Attended Ohio State University for two years before joining the Navy.   Thanks to the Navy I have lived all over the United States:  Great Lakes, IL 1980-1981;  Orlando , FL 1981-1982;  Chicopee, MA 1982-1984;  Mare Island, CA 1984-1987;  San Diego, CA 1987;  Groton, CT 1987-1994;  Griswold, CT 1994-1996 and finally Honolulu, HI 1996 to 2003 when I transferred to Los Angles with my job.
